Here we have this wonderful vintage, reclaimed, early victorian cast iron fire insert. The insert has a fantastic solid appearance with excellent period charm. This insert has a large arched opening that is surrounded by a decorative twist and floral detailing. The fire has retained its original front bars that have a pretty scrolling detail on either side and decorative finials. The iron has been polished to enhance its original state. The fire has a registered design kite mark and although it is now unreadable, we can date the fire to pre 1884, when the dating system changed. This fire insert is a fantastic example of elegant victorian design and it would be perfectly placed in your period home.
Condition
This fire insert has some small marks, scratches and knocks. The back has surface rust, as expected. The top of the fire brick has a small crack. Some slight tarnish to the grill from use. Please see pictures for condition details.
