Here we have a rare pair of Westminster Bank Leather Delivery Cash Bags. These bags probably date back to the late Victorian era 19th century to early 20th century Edwardian. Both bags have a Gladstone metal frame that opens to the top with a brass name plate riveted to the opener. These impressive items have the original Westminster Limited embossed to the front face of the bags and to the upper front you will find a brass escutcheon plate that features a double lock case and a single lock case on the tan leather bag. You will also find the CHUBB LONDON logo engraved to the lock face with its back serial number. These Items are steeped in history and would make an interesting collectors piece.
These bags where used to transfer the days takings to the bank and the Chubb 2 key detector lock was made to be almost impossible to pick and if tampered with, they would jam in the locked position.
Condition
The bags are unopened and I have no keys so I have no way of telling if the bags have any contents. Presumably the bank branch would keep the keys.
The only wear is some rubbing to the cosmetic leather covering to the the top and bottom with rust to the bear metal.The leather is exceptionally heavy and some of the stitching is loose to the bottom outside of the bags, but otherwise in excellent condition.
